1/43 Scale Stock Cars

American stock car racing was born in the deep south and has roots in good ol' boys and bootleggers who could turn stock Detroit iron into seriously fast machines that could run on dirt, sand or asphalt. Stock car racing went from a hobby to a sport in 1959 with the formation of the National Association of Stock Car Racing (NASCAR). Other sanctioning bodies such as USAC have also moved the sport forward, but it's NASCAR that is mostly responsible for the evolution of the sport.

The Modern Era
Until 1975, NASCAR drivers had to commute to the races using the same stock cars (under they're own power) that competed in the race. By 1980, NASCAR had completely stopped tracking the model year of all the vehicles and most teams did not take cars to the track under their own power anymore.
